    Squash Racket Stringing

Choosing the right string tension can be difficult given the number of different strings available, made from different materials and with different playing characteristics. Different gauges of string also need stringing at different tensions and, to complicate matters, the headsize of the racket also affects the relative tension of the strings because of the smaller or larger span; so one string at one tension in one racket will not necessarily work at the same tension in another racket. Below are some guideline tensions which should give you a better idea of the tension you need and you will be able to take to your stringer. For information about the playing characteristics of individual strings, please see the string product pages.

To find your recommended tension, locate your racket headsize on the frame of your racket, then read off the value for your chosen string. The values indicated are intended to offer a good balance of power, playability and control but this will of course depend on your preference and playing style. For ultimate control and slice, (where possible) add 2lbs to the tension values, or reduce tension for more power and a larger sweetspot.
